Scavenger Hunt _ A Fun Classroom Activity for Your Students
A Scavenger Hunt is a fun, engaging group activity that transforms learning into an adventure. Students work together to find hidden pieces of reading material (text, dialogue, story, etc.) and assemble them in the correct order. It boosts coordination across multiple skills:
- Communication
- Collaboration
- Linguistic & motor skills
- Physical movement
- Problem-solving
How to Plan a Successful Scavenger Hunt
Pre-Activity Stage:
1. Choose your material: Text, story, or dialogue.
2. Prepare printable sheets:- One per group
- Front page = reading material
- Back page = group-specific colour
- Keep the first and last parts aside
- Separate pieces by group
While-Activity Stage:
1. Hide the pieces: Stick each group's clues around the classroom or yard.
2. Keep the first & last parts: These stay with the teacher.
3. Divide students into groups: Match the number of groups to the number of sheets.
4. Explain the rules:
- Each group starts with the first clue given by the teacher (colour-coded)
- They search for matching coloured pieces
- Once all clues are found, they receive the final piece from the teacher
- Groups work together to order the material
- A group leader submits the final version for checking

Post-Activity Stage:
If the group assembles the text correctly:
Each student receives a comprehension worksheet to complete individually.
